Accommodation in hotels

This is a journey between sea and mountain, during which you will have the opportunity to hike on the most beautiful mountains along the Ionian coast and enjoy the wonderful sea. On days 3-5, you will be offered two different programs, which run in parallel, and you can choose any of them, spontaneously, at the beginning of each day. While one of them is more difficult, the other is easier and convenient for those who want to enjoy the sea rather than a long hike.

Day 1: Durrës, the ancient and modern town on the Adriatic Sea

The journey begins at noon, immediately after arriving at Tirana airport, and Durrës is the first stop. The city, founded in 627 BC has much to tell of its colourful story, beautiful beaches and attractions. We will have time for a short visit of the city, its Roman amphitheatre and a drink at one of the bars by the sea. The journey continues in the direction of Vlorë, the city with a very long coastline that stretches between the Adriatic and Ionian seas. Dinner and accommodation are planned at a hotel with a special location by the sea, in Radhimë, near Vlora. Here you can enjoy not only the view, but also the delicious cuisine. (-/-/D)

Day 2: Boat tour around the Karaburun Peninsula

Right after breakfast, transfer to the port to start the trip around the Karaburun Peninsula. Karuburun is known for its abundant nature attractions and its various archaeological discoveries. The first stop is planned at the cave of Haxhi Ali, located at the north end of the peninsula. This cave is 30 meters long, 10-15 meters high, and 9.5 meters wide. If the sea conditions permit, we can visit the cave. Our trip continues to the Sazan island, a former cold war naval base, opened last year for the first time to the public. Another break is planned at the bay of Saint Vasil which lies on the eastern side of the Karaburun peninsula. Return to the port in the late afternoon and from there transfer to Dhërmi where dinner and accommodation are planned. (B/L/D)

Day 3: Dhërmi: The characteristic village on the Ionian coast, and hike to Saint Andre bay

Difficult program: T2+, WT 4h, Am↑250m, Dm↓250m

This day begins with the transfer to Palasa, where the hike of the day begins. We will follow the path, which runs parallel to the sea up to Saint Andre bay. During the hike the view is magnificent, the terrain is not very steep and sometimes flat. This bay, which is totally isolated from the rest of the world, retains its intact natural beauty, the clean beach and the crystal-clear water. After a short swimming break, we will be transferred by boat to the beach of Dhërmi.

After having lunch in a restaurant by the sea, is planned a visit to the village, which is situated on a hill, 200 meters above sea level where we will arrive after a 2km walk. Dhërmi has many old houses with characteristic architecture and the ancient traces of the village belong to the first century BC. We will visit the monastery of Panaia and its church built in the fourteenth century and decorated with engravings of the time. Dinner and accommodation at the same hotel in Dhërmi. (B/L/D)

Easy program:

All those who prefer the sea can stay on the beach. They can swim and sunbathe, or can even rent kayaks or paddle boats.

For all those who don't like hiking it will be possible to join the group at Saint Andre bay, travelling on a motorboat. After the swimming break there, transfer to the beach of Dhërmi together with the other participants in the travel.

In the afternoon the sightseeing program will be the same for all the guests. (B/L/D)

Day 4: Ngjipe and Jalë, two of the most popular beaches on the Ionian coast:

Difficult program: T2, WT 3h, Am↑350m, Dm↓250m

After breakfast, transfer to the starting point of our hike. We will descend towards the bay and the beach of Ngjipe, where a break is scheduled. The landscape is very attractive, the beach is clean and the water clear and you can enjoy them in serenity. The canyon of Ngjipe is very deep and its vertical walls are appropriate for climbing. After spending some time in Ngjipe, the hike continues to the village of Vuno, from where we will be transferred to our last stop of the day, Jalë.

Here lunch, dinner and accommodation in a simple, but clean hotel are provided. In the afternoon, you can enjoy the sun and the clean and warm sea and in the evening you can visit one of the bars or discos and enjoy the nightlife. (B/L/D)

Easy program:

Difficult program: T1+, WT 4h, Am↑80m, Dm↓80m

The day begins with a short boat trip to the bay, which due to its calm and clear water is called "Aquarium". Before we start hiking to Himara through a visible and not too steep trail, you will have some time to swim in the crystal-clear water. On the way to Himara, a stop is scheduled on the beach of Livadhë. With its clean beach and the crystal-clear water Himara is an ideal vacation spot. The beach stretches from the city southwards to the small bay and peninsula of Spille. Lunch and dinner are planned in one of the beautiful seaside restaurants where you can choose between various dishes on the menu. Accommodation is also provided at a seaside hotel. (B/L/D)

Day 6: Porto Palermo harbour and the castle of Ali Pasha Tepelena: T1, WT 2h

Right after breakfast, we will travel southwards to Porto Palermo, which is one of the most beautiful sites of the entire Ionian coast. Its harbour has been one of the most important military bases during the Cold War. The tunnel entrance, where submarines used to anchor, is visible from the height of the road. The magnificent castle of Ali Pasha, lies on a small island. The view from the castle, over the whole coast, is wonderful. After a short break, transfer to Himara. Visits to some churches and monasteries, as well as lunch are planned there. The journey continues to the park of Llogara where dinner in a restaurant "A la carte" and accommodation are organized. (B/L/D)
