Your day begins with a group briefing, where your guide will introduce the journey ahead and provide your mountaineering equipment. Take a moment to ensure everything fits perfectly before setting out.
The transfer to Valbona takes you through the city of Gjakovë in Kosovo and back into Albania, passing Bajram Curri. Along the way, the road follows the Valbona River, revealing stunning views of the wild alpine landscape and dramatic peaks of the Albanian Alps.
In the afternoon, a short hike starts from the hotel, leading you to the hills above the valley. Though the climb is gentle, the vistas of the valley and surrounding peaks are breathtaking. The trail descends through Kukaj and back to the hotel, where a delicious dinner awaits you.

Today’s adventure takes you to a summit with breathtaking views of the Valbona Valley. Starting from your hotel, the trail leads westward through a dense forest, where nature’s serenity surrounds you.
As you ascend the steep meadow to the peak at 1,868 meters, the panorama of rugged mountains and verdant valleys unfolds before you. After enjoying lunch and soaking in the views, descend the same path back to the hotel, where a hearty dinner and restful accommodations await.

Your hike begins from Valbonë, with an ascent through the lush Valley. The trail gradually becomes steeper as it approaches the craggy terrain leading to the Pass of Valbonë, situated at 1812 meters. From this vantage point, enjoy breathtaking views of the surrounding alpine valleys.
The descent into Theth begins with a rocky trail that winds through scree fields before softening into forested paths. As you near the village, you’ll be surrounded by vibrant greenery, streams, and mountain views. Dinner and accommodation are provided at a welcoming guesthouse in Theth.

After breakfast, begin with a gentle hike to the Isolation Tower, where you’ll uncover the stories behind the “Kanun,” an ancient legal tradition passed down through generations.
The hike then leads to Grunas Waterfall, its waters cascading into a canyon surrounded by rugged beauty. From here, continue to the glacier mills of Ndërlysaj, where emerald streams have carved intricate paths through smooth rock. The hike continues to the Blue Eye of Kaprre, a spellbinding natural pool with vivid blue waters. Whether you choose to swim or simply soak in its beauty, the experience is unforgettable.
Recharge with a simple yet delicious lunch at a local restaurant before hiking back to your guesthouse in Theth to conclude the day.

A highlight of the Theth National Park, Arapi Mountain rises to 2,217 meters, with its formidable 800-meter south wall dominating the alpine landscape. This imposing natural wonder sets the stage for an exhilarating day.
From Theth, the trail leads to the Peja Pass, where the terrain grows steeper, winding through rocky slopes and limestone formations. The climb to Arapi Peak requires light scrambling across dramatic karst plates, rewarding your efforts with unforgettable summit views from the ridgeline.
Returning via the same path to Peja Pass, the journey concludes with a gentle ascent to the serene Gropat e Bukura, where tents await for a night in nature’s embrace.

Hiking: T6, 10h, ↑1100m, ↓1700m, 11km
Your day begins with an eastward trek from Gropat e Bukura toward Jezerca, the Albanian Alps’ crown jewel at 2,694 meters. The climb to the northern ridge is steep and challenging, with rugged terrain and light climbing that demand focus and determination. Standing atop Jezerca’s summit, you’re rewarded with awe-inspiring views that make every step worthwhile.
The descent to the southeast is steep and exposed, requiring caution. It includes a rappel that adds a sense of adventure. The trail continues toward Popluka Summit, descending through the Trough of Vali and easing into the forested paths near Valbona Pass. By the time you reach Rragam, the day’s effort transforms into a deep sense of achievement.

Enjoy a relaxed start to the day before transferring to Fierzë, where your ferry journey across Lake Koman begins. This stunning ride offers spectacular views reminiscent of Norwegian fjords, with the lake winding gracefully between steep cliffs and dramatic peaks.
Disembarking in Koman, the trip continues by car to Tirana. Upon arrival, you’ll have some free time to settle into your hotel or explore the lively capital at your leisure. As the evening unfolds, join your guide for a farewell dinner at a local restaurant, reflecting on the unforgettable moments of your journey.

This is a mountaineering tour, and a high level of fitness is required. |
This tour includes alpine crossings (Days 4, 6 and 7), which you have to perform in order to continue with the program. |
Short sections of scrambling and easy climbing will have to be crossed on days 5 and 6. While your guides will take care of safety, you have to be physically fit, be willing and able to follow their directions, and have prior experience in the mountains to join this trip. |
Equipment: |
The performance of this tour necessitates the usage of tents and mountaineering equipment. The rental of this equipment is included in the price of the tour. You will be given the equipment on the morning of day 2. |
After booking, you will be provided with a detailed list of all personal equipment you must bring with you. On the morning of day 2, the guide will also inspect the personal equipment you will bring. You cannot take part in this tour if you fail to bring any of the equipment mentioned in the equipment list, or if the equipment you bring is damaged or otherwise unusable. |
Camping equipment: |
The tents for this tour will be provided by AFA. However, due to hygiene reasons, AFA cannot provide sleeping bags and sleeping pads. Therefore, you will have to bring your own sleeping bag and sleeping pad. The sleeping bag should at least have a -5°C comfort level. |
The transportation of the camping equipment and food for the camping day will be organized by AFA. |
Luggage transportation: |
Luggage transportation to and from the campsite on days 6 and 7 is not possible. You can leave some of your luggage in the hotel in Valbona and carry in your daypack only what is necessary for days 4 – 7. Please pack carefully and lightly. |
You will receive your main luggage again on day 7. |
