Peaks of the Balkans – Small Group Hiking Tour

Your hotel is located at the heart of Albania’s dynamic capital. From Ottoman relics to Italian architecture and communist-era landmarks, the city’s streets weave a fascinating narrative of its journey through time.
For those arriving early, an optional cable car ride to Dajti Mountain offers panoramic views and a peaceful escape above the bustling city. End your day in the spirited “Blloku” district, where trendy cafes and bars have transformed this former closed-off enclave into the city’s most vibrant quarter.

Hiking: T2, 2h, ↑550m, ↓50m, 3km

In the morning, meet your guide and group for the transfer to the hike’s starting point. The hike follows a cobblestone path to the Sari Salltik Summit, a sacred Bektashi site with stunning views extending to Montenegro.
After some free time at the summit, we will head to Krujë, a city perched 600 meters above sea level, wander through the historic Krujë Castle and enjoy a traditional lunch featuring local delicacies. Stroll through the 400-year-old handicrafts market to experience the city’s rich heritage.
The journey continues to Shkodra, one of Albania’s oldest cities. After free time for a promenade stroll or coffee, we will take a scenic drive to Lëpushë, a peaceful village in the Accursed Mountains that lies at an altitude of 1200 meters. Dinner and accommodation will be provided at a local guesthouse.

Fuel up with a hearty breakfast before embarking on a hike that unveils the breathtaking beauty of the Albania-Montenegro border region. The trail starts with a serene forest ascent, leading you to an altitude of 1650 meters. From there, the path climbs higher, reaching Vajusha Peak at 2059 meters. On the summit, you’ll enjoy panoramic views of rolling peaks and lush valleys, a picture-perfect reward for your efforts.
After descending to Lëpushë, your journey continues with a scenic transfer to the guesthouse in Vuthaj (Vusanje), Montenegro, where the day ends in comfort and relaxation.

Hiking: T3, 6h, ↑850m, ↓1250m, 12km

The day begins with a transfer through the picturesque Rapojana Valley to the starting point of the hike at Zastan. From here, the trail ascends gradually to the border between Albania and Montenegro, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscapes.
After crossing the border, we will make a short break at a shepherd’s hut along the way. The trail winds through boulders, meadows, and a serene beech forest, eventually leading to the hanging glacial valley of Kukaj. Dinner and accommodation at a comfortable hotel in Valbonë.

Hiking: T2, 6h, ↑900m, ↓900m, 18km

Today, we’ll embark on a hike to one of Valbona’s most picturesque summits, Kunji i Rragamit, starting directly from your hotel. The trail takes uswestward through a forest steeped in natural beauty.
At 1,868 meters, the summit offers sweeping views of the valley below, a perfect backdrop for a lunch break. The descent leads us back to our hotel, where dinner awaits to cap off a day connected to nature.

Hiking: T2, 6h, ↑1050m, ↓450m, 16km

The morning begins with a short drive to Çerem, a seasonal village northeast of Valbona. The hike starts gently, following a babbling stream into a serene forest. Along the way, the landscape shifts between shaded woodlands, lush meadows, and fields bursting with blueberries, creating a truly picturesque journey.
Reaching the upper Gashi Valley, the trail ascends steeply to Dobërdol, a peaceful mountain haven where your evening will be spent in a rustic shepherd’s hut.

Hiking: T3, 7h, ↑1100m, ↓1150m, 14km

We will wake up surrounded by the wild beauty of the Dobërdol plateau and have breakfast at the shepherd’s hut. The day’s hike begins through meadows blanketed with blueberries, climbing steadily toward the Albania-Kosovo border.
The journey along the ridge offers striking views over both countries. The trail challenges you with a climb to the Gjeravica Peak, the highest point of the day, where breathtaking vistas reward your effort. After descending, we will get in the vehicle for the onward journey back to Tirana. Upon arrival in the capital, enjoy free time to unwind or explore at your leisure. In the evening, you will meet the guide again, to walk to a local restaurant for the farewell dinner.

Following breakfast, it’s time to part ways with Albania, leaving behind its enchanting scenery and heartfelt stories but taking the memories with you.
