Our trips descriptions give detailed information about: terrain, technical difficulty, estimated walking times, ascent/descent and trip length. We kindly ask you to read these very carefully and consider them while choosing your trip. We use the SAC Mountain and Alpine Hiking Scale to grade the technical difficulty of the hiking trails. Our daily trip descriptions give detailed information about: terrain, technical difficulty, estimated walking times, ascent/descent in meters. You must read these very carefully and use the information to choose the tour best suited to your ability. For your benefit, and for the safety of all those taking part, your guide is authorized to exclude any traveler from all or part of the day’s activities or the entire tour, if he considers the trip too dangerous or challenging for their level of ability or fitness.

The given technical difficulty for each daily trip specifies in any case the maximum difficulty in the course of the corresponding trip. That does not necessarily mean that the whole day trip is technically so difficult.

For each tour or activity, you will be given a detailed list of all necessary equipment and preferred shoes/footwear. The categories are as follows:

Category A: Leisure, walking on good paths.

Category B: Challenging hikes (mountains or Alps) on bad roads, gravel, climbing.

Category C: Trekking on high mountains / glaciers, off-track, gravel, climbing.

Estimated walking times are given for each day of the tours. These times are calculated according to DIN33466, and can vary according to the day’s weather conditions, and the fitness levels of tour participants. These times do not include times taken for meals and breaks.

The meal plan varies depending on the type and the destination of the tour. Some of the tours include most of the meals, some others only few of them. The meals included for each day are listed in the detailed programs of the tours.

Generally, the meals planned at local homes, at special traditional restaurants or meals which represent culinary highlights are included in the prices.

In case accommodations are located in isolated places, or in case the meals have to be ordered in advance, they are included in the price as well.

In case of longer outdoor activities the meals will be provided in packed form.

Once a Traveller books a tour or service, a non-refundable deposit of 29€ per Person is due immediately at the time of booking.

For tours and services starting more than 60 calendar days after the time of booking, the full payment of the total price of the tour or service must be performed not later than 60 calendar days before the start of the tour or service.

For tours and services starting 60 calendar days or less after the time of booking, the full payment of the total price of the tour or service must be performed at the time of booking.

For tours and services starting 60 calendar days or less after the time of booking, for which the payment will be performed by bank transfer, the payment has to be performed within 3 business days of booking.

The dates of the payments are considered those of the credit of the account of AFA.

No. The traveler is responsible for the purchase of travel insurance prior to the departure date (covering cancellation, curtailment, injury, illness, death, as well as expenses related thereto). AFA shall not check the existence or the validity of the insurance policy, but reserves the right of requesting a copy of it.

Our trip prices do not include the costs of your airfares to Albania. You are free to choose the most convenient route to Tirana.

If your baggage is not delivered upon arrival at the airport, go to the dedicated “Lost Baggage/Lost & Found” office and fill out a baggage delivery delay form. A certificate of loss will then be given to you and this will allow you to track your luggage.

The airline will then contact you directly to decide where and when your baggage will be delivered.

Under no circumstances can Adventure and Fun Albania track lost baggage in place of the traveler. It is your own responsibility.

Remember to pack some toiletries and a change of clothes in your hand luggage, in case the need arises!

In Albania, the service is included in the price. However, if you are satisfied, tips are always welcome: count between 5 and 10% of the bill.

Albania is a safe country. Petty crime is lower than in most Western countries.

Yes, the consumption of alcoholic beverages is allowed in Albania. If you choose to consume alcoholic beverages during the trip, we ask that you drink responsibly in order to not disturb the other participants in the tour.

No. It is not legal to use drugs in Albania. Possession or use of drugs or any other illegal substances will not be tolerated during our tours or services.

Currently, no visa is required for citizens of EU Member States, Switzerland, UK, Australia, Canada, Japan, New Zealand, Norway, Switzerland and the United States.

Passports are generally required and must be valid for at least 3 months after entry to Albania.

For stays of up to 90 days, citizens of the EU and Switzerland, are generally allowed to enter Albania with a valid identity card as well, even though a passport is preferable.

No mandatory vaccinations are required to enter Albania. However, it is recommended to be up to date in your vaccination schedule of your country.

By Air

The fastest and most comfortable way to enter Albania is by air. Tirana Airport, located at Rinas, 17km northwest of Tirana, is served by over a dozen airlines. There are some new hotels a few hundred meters from the airport and frequent connections between Tirana and the airport.

There are shuttle bus services which connect the airport with the cities of Tirana, Durrës, Vlora, Fier. For updated rates and timetable consult the page of the airport:

Taxis are always available and easy to find both at the airport and in the city. The Official Airport Taxis (yellow) stand in front of the main airport terminal, can be reserved ahead of time, and can be summoned using a call-switch located near the taxi stand. At the airport, there are also representatives of the major international car rental companies operating in Albania.

By Sea

Ferries operate regularly from Italy (Ancona, Bari) to Durres and from Brindisi to Vlora. Durrës is about 40km from Tirana. Ferries also operate between Corfu (Greece) and Saranda in the south of Albania, with some taking a small number of cars.

By Road

There are more border crossing points by car, whether coming from Greece, Montenegro, Kosovo or North Macedonia. Borders are open 24 hours. The border crossing can sometimes be fast, sometimes not, depending on time of year and other travelers. Insurance costs are paid at the border, calculated on how many days are to be spent in country. The car’s full documents must be provided.

Dalmatia: The drive along the Croatian coast is very scenic, but slow. There are two border crossings from Montenegro: one from Podgorica through Hani i Hotit, north of Lake Shkodra and the other from the south, from Bar or Ulqinj through Murriqan, which is often faster. A new border post has recently opened at Vermosh, which links the region of Kelmendi in Albania with Plava and Gucia (Gusinje) in Montenegro.
Serbia and Kosovo: The fastest route from Central Europe to Kosovo and northern Albania remains the main road through Serbia. However, the Serbia-Kosovo border takes a long time due to extensive border controls. There are three border crossings from Kosovo to Albania;
a) through the Morina pass, which links Kukës with Prishtina,
b) through Morina which links Tropoja with Gjakova and
c) Qafë Prushi, which links Kruma with Gjakova. The new highway between Kosovo and Albania runs through the Morina Pass and is the most recommended route.
Northern Macedonia: Entering Albania from Northern Macedonia is easy and fast. There are three border crossings.
a) The main point of entry is Qafë Thana which links Ohrid and Struga with Pogradec, Elbasan, Tirana, etc,
b) The second crossing is on the south of Lake Ohrid, at St. Naum/ Tushemisht.
c) The third crossing, Bllata links Peshkopi with the Region of Great Dibra.
Greece: Generally, the roads that lead from Greece to Albania are newly constructed and well maintained. There are different border crossings between Albania and Greece:
a) Kapshtica (Greek border – Kristalopigi) leading from Thessalonica/Kastoria to Korça,
b) Kakavija leading from Ioannina to Gjirokastra,
c) Qafë Boti at Konispol the best route from Saranda to Igoumenitsa and
d) Tre Urat connecting Përmet with Konica.

Crossing borders from/to Greece can be a lengthy process, depending on time of year and seasonal flux of visitors.
